How to Use Zight Integration in Slack

Zight makes it simple to capture and share quick screen recordings directly within Slack. Perfect for async updates, quick demos, or explaining something visually without scheduling a meeting.

Open Slack and Start a Message

Locate and Select Zight

Type “/zight” and click send.

Click on “Click to start recording”

Set Up Camera and Mic

Choose your camera and mic settings, then click on “record screen as video”.

Select the Screen to Record

Start Sharing and Recording

A countdown will begin, then start sharing your screen to make the video recording.

End the Recording When You Are Done

Review and Save the Video

You can watch your video before sending it. Click on “Save” to send the video in Slack.

Return to Slack

Confirm Video Sent in Slack

Your recording will appear in Slack message.

Frequently Asked Questions

I finished my recording but nothing showed up in the channel — why?

You have to save it first. After the recording ends you get a review screen where you can watch the video; it only posts to your Slack message once you click Save.

Is recording from Slack free, and does my camera have to be on?

Screen recording is covered by Zight's free plan, and the camera is optional. You choose camera and mic settings on the setup screen before clicking "record screen as video".

Does the recording start the moment I pick a screen?

No — a countdown runs first. The recording begins once the countdown ends and you start sharing your screen, so you have a moment to get ready.
